Youth Programs

At Woodland Fashion, we are committed to empower and educate Indigenous youth (ages 15-29) in fashion by providing accessible learning opportunities, mentorship, and hands-on experience in the industry. We are committed to creating a space where young Indigenous creators can develop their skills, embrace their cultural identity, and gain real-world experience in the fashion world. Through workshops, programs, and industry collaborations, we aim to build a future where Indigenous designers, models, and creatives thrive.

Our Core Values

Empowerment – We uplift Indigenous youth by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed in fashion.

Creativity – We celebrate Indigenous artistry, fostering innovation while respecting traditional craftsmanship.

Community – We create a supportive network where Indigenous designers, models, and creatives can collaborate and grow together.

Education – We believe in hands-on learning, offering workshops and programs that provide real industry experience.

Cultural Representation – We honor Indigenous heritage by ensuring our designs, teachings, and opportunities reflect and respect our traditions.

Our Programs & Initiatives

Internship Program – A mentorship-driven opportunity that allows Indigenous youth to gain hands-on experience in fashion design, business, and production. Interns work alongside established designers, learning industry skills and building their portfolios.

Beginner Sewing Classes – A foundational program designed to teach Indigenous youth the basics of garment construction, pattern-making, and fabric selection. These classes provide the technical skills needed to pursue a career in fashion.

Model Boot Camp – A confidence-building program that prepares Indigenous youth for the runway and photoshoots. Participants learn posing techniques, runway walking, and industry insights to help them navigate the world of fashion modeling.

Workshops & Community Programs – From traditional Indigenous textile art to modern fashion design, our workshops are designed to educate and inspire. We offer hands-on experiences in appliqué work, beadwork, styling, and more, helping youth explore different aspects of fashion.

WOODLAND FASHION

Internship Program

The Woodland Fashion Collective Internship Program provides Indigenous youth with hands-on experience in fashion design, business, and production. Interns work closely with established designers, gaining practical skills in garment construction, creative development, and brand management. This program is designed to bridge the gap between education and industry, offering mentorship, real-world projects, and opportunities to build a professional portfolio. Our goal is to prepare young Indigenous creatives for successful careers in fashion while fostering cultural expression and innovation.
